Hello! I'm Kayla Cheyenne Boyd and I'm a market editor at BuzzFeed and the blogger behind Kayla’s Chaos. You can also find me making videos on YouTube. I am based in New York City and I have been working full-time as a journalist since I moved here in 2017. I have written for various publications including TODAY.com, NYLON, Fashionista, The RunwayRiot, The Post and Courier, and more. Most of my writing has focused on shopping, fashion, beauty, entertainment, and culture.
I was born and raised in the Metro Detroit area. In 2016, I got my bachelors degree from Eastern Michigan University as a double major in journalism and fashion merchandising. I then went straight on to graduate school and received my master’s degree in arts journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in 2017. While there, I worked as an instructional associate for an introductory communications course and freelanced for local publications: Syracuse.com, The Syracuse New Times, and The NewsHouse.
I am very passionate about content creation in all forms, whether it be writing, editing, video, photography, or social media curation. My focus is often body positivity and racial diversity and doing my best to create content that is inclusive and empowering in those areas. As a proud plus-size, biracial woman I would like to use my own platform and identity to inspire others to live confidently and unapologetically. When I'm not working, I love to travel, watch movies, obsess over upcoming sneaker releases, and drink iced lattes.
